Is Taylor Swift giving Jake Gyllenhaal another chance?

The two stars, whose brief relationship fizzled in December, arrived quietly together on Wednesday at Bound'ry, a restaurant near Swift's Nashville condo, and were led back to a table for two, according to another patron.

"They did eat," the patron tells PEOPLE. "They were cordial to one another, but not affectionate."

The two were last spotted publicly together on Dec. 9.

Swift has been lying low in Nashville in recent days, rehearsing with her band for a concert on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, where she will perform on Friday, and for the Asian leg of her Speak Now tour, which begins in Singapore on Feb. 9.

Taylor Swift didn't let her recent split from Jake Gyllenhaal get her down at Wednesday's People's Choice Awards in L.A.

The single-again singer, 20, put on a brave face at the bash -- and while ex Gyllenhaal, 29, didn't show, two other recent loves were in attendance.

Glee's Cory Monteith and Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner both attended the fest. While it's not known whether Swift and Lautner, 18 (they dated for three months in 2009) exchanged words, the country crooner and Monteith, 28, exchanged a friendly hug backstage.

But wait: Who was Swift's male companion for the evening? That would be Austin Swift -- her brother.

Swift was in high spirits throughout the night. Seated just a few rows in front of Zac Efron (who parted ways with Vanessa Hudgens last month), she hugged a staffer and obliged fans with photos and autographs during commercial breaks.

Backstage, she bonded with BFF Selena Gomez, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Barrymore, Efron and many other stars.

Still, an insider close to the Speak Now singer told Us Weekly she is "really upset" by the Gyllenhaal breakup. "We told her not to move so fast with this but she didn't listen," the source adds.

Why did the Love and Other Drugs hunk call it quits? "Jake cares about her, but [the publicity] was a lot for him. He wants to keep his private life private, and that’s hard to do dating Taylor," a Gyllenhaal confidante explains.

No one seems surprised that Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift didn't last long.

Oct. 23: Their first public outing as a couple appears to have been an afternoon of apple-picking at Fishkell Farms in Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Later that night, they attend broadcast of Saturday Night Live in NYC.

Oct. 25: Reports hit the internet claiming that the two are more than just new friends after they're spotted together in Brooklyn brunching with another couple at restaurant Al Di La.

Nov. 13: Gwyneth Paltrow hosts a dinner party for Gyllenhaal and Swift at her and Chris Martin's London home, according to US Weekly. Paltrow later tells USA Today, "I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy, and Chris has a friendship with Taylor."

Nov. 25: Thanksgiving Day: It's another Brooklyn sighting when they're photographed on a date at Gorilla Coffee (they had a couple of lattes). Swift is also snapped by paparazzi strolling through the neighborhood with Gyllenhaal's sister Maggie and little niece Ramona.

Nov. 27: They leave New York for Swift's hometown of Nashville, where they stop by Fido, a coffeehouse not far from Music Row. The next day, it's cappuccinos at the city's Frothy Monkey. They continue their tour of coffee houses the next day with a stop at Crema. Less than 24 hours later, they were back at the Frothy Monkey.

Dec. 8: Swift reportedly returns to Los Angeles to hang out with her beau at his Hollywood Hills home. The next day, they're spotted zooming around town in Gyllenhaal's Audi.

Dec. 13: Gyllenhaal is not by Swift's side as she celebrates her 21st birthday at her family's home in Hendersonville, Tenn.

Dec. 19: Brokeback Mountain actor turns 30! He told reporters about a month before that he planned on marking the milestone with a family vacation in the—ready for this?—Arctic Circle. No word if the trip actually happened.

Jan. 4: Sources confirm that the two are dunzo. Our own Awful Truth reports that both are "very happy" it's over.

Jan. 5: So what happened? Sources confirm Gyllenhaal initiated the breakup because he didn't like the media attention and he also felt their nine-year age difference was a problem, too. But no time for sad faces—it's announced that Swift's Speak Now will remain at the top of the Billboard 200 chart next week.

Taylor Swift, 21, may be hard at work penning her next break-up ballad -- sources confirm to UsMagazine.com that she and Jake Gyllenhaal, 30, have ended their brief romance.

"Jake reached out to her and started all of this, but now he’s not acting as interested," a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly (on stands Wednesday).

The previously inseparable pair called it quits just before New Year's Eve, then rang in 2011 separately.

"He said he wasn't feeling it anymore and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got," says the insider of the just over two-month romance. "He also said he could feel the age difference. Taylor is really upset. We told her not to move so fast with this but she didn't listen."

Explains a Gyllenhaal insider, “Jake cares about her, but [the publicity] was a lot for him. He wants to keep his private life private, and that’s hard to do dating Taylor.”

When asked which celebrity she'd want to take to a prom, Taylor Swift names a few dream choices.

"It would be a group, and it would be a really fun group," the singer, 21, says on the Jan. 3 episode of the Rachael Ray show. "Because all these different reasons. Well, Katy Perry would be so much fun. She’s just like crazy fun and like spontaneous."

Swift continues, "Diddy has always been very nice to me. Justin Timberlake is the same way, he’s really funny. And, Sheryl Crow is really down to earth and really cool. And like, J. Lo would be a really good dancer!"

Noticeably absent from her list is one star she's been seen with recently: Jake Gyllenhaal.

Gwyneth Paltrow Helped Set Up Jake and Taylor!

Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal might owe Gwyneth Paltrow a thank-you: if it weren't for her, their relationship may have fizzled out sooner than it started.

As Us Weekly was the first to report, Paltrow, 38, hosted a private dinner party for the pair during Swift and Gyllenhaal's secretive trip to London on November 13.

"Jake and Taylor were driven from the Dorchester hotel to Gwyneth and Chris Martin's house in Primrose Hill for dinner," an insider told Us. "Gwyneth seems to have played a role in their relationship."

When USA Today asked Paltrow about the intimate gathering with Gyllenhaal, 30, and Swift, 21, the Country Strong actress initially tried to play coy.

"Where is this coming from?" she asked, adding that she's "scared to say" much about the couple's blossoming romance.

"It's so weird. I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don't know why it would come out today," Paltrow said. "I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy, and Chris has a friendship with Taylor."

Paltrow's matchmaking skills apparently paid off: one week after their trip, Swift scheduled a last-minute trip to Brooklyn to spend Thanksgiving with Gyllenhaal at his sister Maggie's home.

"They were so happy and content," an eyewitness told Us of the couple. "They seemed very comfortable together."

Jake Gyllenhaal purchased a rare $11,000 Fender Gretsch guitar signed by country music legend Chet Atkins for Taylor Swift's 21st birthday, according to The Sun. Taylor saw it at a shop when they were together in Nashville last month, and Jake later returned and bought the instrument.

A source tells the UK tabloid, "He spent the weekend in Nashville with her and she saw the guitar in a tiny store which a lot of A-list musicians use. Taylor drooled over it so Jake went back to the shop later and bought it for her. He was originally going to buy it just as a gift but it ended up being perfect for her birthday on Monday."

She turned 21 yesterday (December 13) and Taylor Swift had her main squeeze Jake Gyllenhaal by her side all night.

The “Love Story” songstress celebrated at her home in Nashville with a small, “super low-key” party sans booze.

A partygoer snitched to press that Taylor and Jake were “cuddly and so cute” and “obsessed” with one another.

Prior to the big day, Taylor told press, "I want a Christmas-themed birthday, because I love Christmas as much as my birthday. Combining the two just seems like the perfect festivity."

Taylor Swift: How I'll Celebrate My 21st Birthday

Taylor Swift will turn 21 on Dec. 13, but she isn't planning a wild night out to celebrate reaching the legal drinking age.

Instead, she's going to stay home and mark the milestone with a holiday party.

"I definitely want a winter-themed birthday – Christmas-themed," she tells PEOPLE. "And I'd really like to have it in my condo. I think that would be wonderful."

Though Swift says she's "not, by nature, a party girl," turning 21 will help her social life.

"It'll be cool that I'll be able to go to a lot of concerts that my friends always go to and I sit at home because it's 21 and over," she says. "Other than that, I don't think I'm going to all of a sudden start being in love with the idea of going to a club."

But that doesn't mean she doesn't like to have a good time. "I like to dance around and have fun with my friends and we have a blast, but I've never felt really compelled to be drunk and I don't think that's terribly awful," she says, but "I'm not one of those people who's never going to have a drink."

While Swift was open about her party theme and drinking legally, there is no word on whether new beau Jake Gyllenhaal will be on hand to help her celebrate with a cocktail or two.

Just moments ago, Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift were cruising around Beverly Hills when they decided the heat from the paparazzi was getting a little too hot so Jake put in a call to the police. And not only did the LAPD send out ground support but they also dispatched a HELICOPTER to watch over the two superstars in their Audi Q7.

Our photographer on the scene tells us Jake was TOTALLY overreacting:

"I don't know why Jake was in such a bad mood. We saw him and Taylor in the car and when we tried to see where they would park to get out, Jake went crazy. It's like he didn't want anyone to get a shot of him and Taylor together. I mean if he's going to do set-up shots with the paps like he did last week, what's the difference?!"

We've put in the call to the Beverly Hills Police Department, the BH Sheriff's Department and the main headquarters of the LAPD and so far no response from anyone as to why they felt it was necessary to send a helicopter to "protect" a celebrity from photographers. (Not such a great use of taxpayer's money, I'd say!)

Maggie Gyllenhaal had an extra reason to be thankful this year: She got to spend Thanksgiving with her brother Jake and his new sudden squeeze, Taylor Swift.

It's been a busy travel weekend for most Americans – and especially for Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Two days after enjoying maple lattes together in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Thanksgiving, Swift and Gyllenhaal popped up in the singer's hometown of Nashville.

On Saturday afternoon, the couple were spotted getting a late breakfast at Fido, a coffeehouse and café near Vanderbilt University and Music Row.

"They were smiling and laughing. They were talking a lot and enjoying each other's company," fellow diner Elaina Mishu tells PEOPLE. "They didn't look like [just] friends."

Customer Emma Rice, who snapped a photo of the pair and posted it online, calls the duo "very cute" and says, "They seemed close."

The singer, 20, and actor, 29, were first spotted together in late October.

And while Gyllenhaal has avoided commenting on his relationship with Swift, they aren't hiding their affection.

"They were not trying to be discreet by any means," another eyewitness says of the pair, who sat at a table near a window. "They were definitely a couple. They looked very happy."
